Time

We have been learning all about time. We looked at calendars and learned a poem all about the months of the year. We also made our own clocks. We painted the right hand side red and the left hand side blue. Now we know the red side is for 'past' and the blue side is for 'to'.

Halloween

We made lots of lovely art for Halloween. We based our work on pumpkins and made clay pumpkins and pumkin cards. It was lots of fun.

Hurling

We are working hard on our hurling skills with Michael.

Maths

We have been having lots of fun in maths. We have been learning counting songs and revising all our numbers. We counted lots of shapes. We counted how many sides they had and even had time to make interesting objects using our shapes.

Jolly Phonics

We have been very busy in the Junior Room. The infants have been learning their sounds and first and second class have ben revising capital letters and full stops. Here is a link to all the Jolly Phonics songs.

Science Experiment

We have been looking at how plants grow in science. We discovered that plants need lots of water to grow. We carried out an experiment to see how flowers bring water from the ground up to their petals. It's called 'capillary action'. Look what happened when we put a white daffodil into some water mixed with red food colouring.

Community Games Art Competition

The Junior Room have entered into the Community Games Art Competition. We drew lots of pictures of people taking part in the Community Games.

Green Flag

Green Flag

We are working towards achieving our 3rd green flag. Transport and travel is the theme. We recently had a visit with Ali from Green Schools. He brought us a map of our area and we found out where we lived on the map (with a little help from Mrs. FitzGerald and Bridget).

 

We also discussed how we travelled to school and made pictograms to show our findings.

Valentine's Day

 

 

We had lots of fun decorating our special trinket boxes for our Valentine's.

 

 

Christmas

We had lots of fun celebrating Christmas in the Junior Room. We learned lots of Christmas words, wrote letters to Santa, made Christmas cards and beautiful angels, but the best part was getting a present from Santa!

Jolly Phonics

We have been learning all our sounds. We like the Jolly Phonics songs and making letters out of Playdough!

Autumn in the Junior Room
